Movie:Bindra is King@Beijing Cast: Abhinav Bindra and others!
2008 Beijing Olympics, 10m Air Rifle Finals:
India's Abhinav Bindra tied at No.1 with Finland's Hakkinen at the end of 9th round. 10th and last round is on...
Hakkinen of Finland shoots a poor 9.7. India's Abhinav Bindra takes position!
India's hope soars and there is a prayer on the lips of every Indian who watched..for the ever elusive but most coveted individual GOLD at Olympics!
Abhinav shoots a near perfect Bull's Eye..10.8! History is created! Indian National Anthem to be played for the first time for an individual GOLD at Olympics!
I also could not hide my emotions as I watched the historic moment on DD Sports (:-)) with my sister Pooja. We instantly shook hands congratulating each other.
We felt so happy from within having been witness to a great (if we can say greatest?) moment in Indian Sports History!
The whole nation is rejoicing.. (though it's a paradox..a nation of more than a billion pleasantly surprised on winning 1 Gold Medal. Well, let's keep that debate for another post)
11th August 2008 will remain etched in every Indian's memory forever!
Hope Abhinav Bindra's pursuit of excellence inspires many sportspersons to bring back Golden laurels now and hereafter!
Many Congrats Abhinav! You have done INDIA proud!

Yes indeed 11th August 2008 will remain a golden day for India - thanks to Abhinav Bindra. I am a sports buff too but somehow had never thought we would really win a gold in an individual sport (the best chance I had thought was the Tennis Men's doubles). I was in the Office when one friend (from Abadrafi group) rang me up to congratulate and I instantly asked him what it was all about. He seemed so excited by the news which was flashing on his TV that he just had to talk to someone. I felt greatly elated myself and conveyed to all in our Office. I instantly checked on the internet to get fuller details and yes, we Indians had indeed arrived on the Olympic stage. Good piece of writing, Nalinji.
